14 Years Old

Kazadi

She lives in the MBUMBU neighbourhood, Kinshasa.

Nine years ago, her father died from cancer, leaving her mother, Bea, to care for Kazadi and her eight-year-old sister, Shirine.

Shortly after her husband’s passing, a bicycle struck Kazadi from behind, hitting her right thigh. Because of this, she could not walk without the aid of crutches.

But this wasn’t the only health concern the family faced. Kazadi and her sister contracted polio when they were younger, which meant both had lost control of their lower limbs. Simple, everyday tasks were made complex, and the girls only had access to one wheelchair between them.

Travelling to and from school became almost impossible, and as a result, their education suffered.

With all three family members being disabled, life became a huge struggle.

Thanks to Mamy Show Foundation’s sponsorship, all of this has changed…

One year ago, Mamy Show Foundation found the family a sponsor.

Now they receive a monthly food parcel, much-needed medical attention and their school transport fees are covered.

This means the family are happier and less stressed.

The sisters are happy to be back at school, and Kazadi hopes to become a teacher one day.
